Film Room: Washington State QB Cam Ward
The Incarnate Word transfer has struggled transitioning to the FBS level but Ward has some insane tools that project out well.
Welcome back to the Run N Shooter! After a short hiatus, I am back and better than ever. During the course of the next few months, there will be a lot NFL draft content here. Specifically, I will be doing a lot with the quarterbacks. First up is Washington State quarterback Cam Ward.
Watching Cam Ward with the Cougars is insanely fun. Offensive coordinator Eric Morris was Ward’s head coach at Incarnate Word which should make the transition easier. Unfortunately for the Cougars, that transition hasn’t been as quick as you would like to see.
His game against Wisconsin was a true up-and-down experience but the tools were evident all game long. Lets take a look at a few plays that stood out.
Screen Game is Dynamic
The Air Raid offense is an offense that replaces the running game with short passes. One of those concepts that they love to use is the screen. The system runs multiple styles of screens: bubble, tunnel, middle, and swing passes. They know how to be multiple and get misdirection to create space.
